Honest Scrap Award
So…this is like the bloggy version of chain letter, but since I was tagged by my work peep Carri I’m going to indulge her. Here’s the deal. She tagged me for something called the Honest Scrap Award. So, I thought — WTF is this? Here’s how it works:
A) List 10 honest things about yourself—and make them interesting, even if you have to dig deep!
B) Pass the award on to 7 bloggers who you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap and whose blogs you find brilliant in design or content.
Now, I tend to be pretty honest in my web persona (which of course is all me, in the truest sense of stream-of-consciousness spew that there is). So, not sure if this is something new. I can’t promise interesting, but I promise honest. Here we go!
1. I’m a geek girl and proud. I spend way too much time on a computer every day, and I know I probably should cut back, but hey — that’s who I am. I’m a geek girl. Take it or leave it.

Zero Dog
2. I love my pitbulls. I mean — duh. I named my blog after them. Truth is, they aren’t always happy. Zero doesn’t like strangers in our house, and he’s told them. So, we usually have to have them in their kennels when people come to the house, which isn’t often, because I think that’s mean. Like right now we have them locked in the bedroom because we’re waiting for the treadmill guy to come fix my treadmill. And I don’t want Zero to eat him.

Frankenankle
3. I have bionic ankles. Okay, that’s not really true, but I do have some good frankenscars on them. Over the past two years I have had ankle reconstructions on both ankles. I had an extra muscle in my calf that was causing overcrowding of one of my tendons that caused it to get stretched and dislocate and then it was getting all jacked up (technical term). I have had them both fixed and now they’re good as new!
4. I’m an introvert. People find that hard to believe since I’m probably the equivalent of an exhibitionist in the web world between my Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Posterous, Blip.fm, and numerous other social media accounts I’ve been maintaining. My comfort level is centered in introversion, but I cross over the line because I have to. I’d usually rather be at home, chillin’ with my dogs. Believe that?
5. I am a die hard Red Sox fan. No matter what you say about the Sox, I’m still gonna love ‘em. And what comes with that is that I hate the Yankees. Just part of the equation. Deal with it.
6. I got lucky finding my most awesome husband in a Bay Area California chat room on AOL almost 14 years ago. Talk about early adopters. We’re geeks together. We used to IM each other from separate computers in the same room, but we’ve evolved. Now we have dueling laptops at night while we have geek nights. I’m happy he’s on Facebook now. Kind of the modern version of AOL back in the day.
7. I’m in the midst of an amazing journey and it’s transforming my life. It’s hard, and I am struggling to not be overcome by the fear of failing at this, but I am lucky to have some amazing people supporting me through this. And I’m learning to ignore the forces that are not supporting me.
8. I always thought Santa didn’t come to our house when I was growing up because we didn’t have a fireplace. I don’t know if someone told me that, or if that’s just something I told myself to make it make sense. When I was little, I used to sit at the window late at night at Christmas eve, usually while watching the snow fall, and I would wait to see Santa come out of the sky and go to our neighbor’s house. At least back then, I actually got a present on each night of Chanukah. Happy Chanukah, by the way.
9. I have some embarrassing things on my iPhone (music-wise — get your head out of the gutter). I admit to having some Britney Spears, Barry Manilow, and probably some other real classics. Call it esoteric. Call it cheesy. I’m a music connoisseur.
10. I hated my name growing up. I always thought that Marilyn sounded like a 40-year-old Jewish lady’s name. Turns out, I was right. Now I don’t mind it, but whenever I hear Mike call me by name, I know I am in trouble.
Obviously there are more honest things about me. Chew on those for a while and stay tuned for more. Now I gotta think of seven bloggers to tag.
