I wonder whether I am eligible to weigh in on all this craziness with the President addressing school children since I have no kids. I was a kid, though, so I think that qualifies me.
I am having a hard time understanding the outrage – pure outrage – that is being expressed by parents who are pulling their kids out of school to avoid having their children brainwashed by the suggestion that they stay in school and work hard. When did the Presidency become such an office of disdain? What is this really all about?
And to ask “what can you do to help the president”? I just see that as a way to encourage participation in the democratic process, and volunteerism, and understanding of civic responsibility. Really — shouldn’t we all be asking what can we do to make the world a better place? This isn’t about politics or the party line. This is about humanitarianism.
Maybe I’m just naive.
